First UGO Meetup: How Users and the OWIS Team Use AI in Their Daily Work

Last week, we held the first User Group of OWIS (UGO) Meetup in Sarajevo, an event intended for users of the OWIS system.

The focus of the first meetup was the practical application of artificial intelligence, new OWIS functionalities, and the specific challenges users face in their everyday work.

During the discussion, users shared the ways in which they already use various AI tools, from preparing and processing content to analyzing data, automating certain tasks, and finding information more quickly.

This also raised a question that is especially important to us: how to connect AI with real business processes so that it does not remain just another separate tool employees use outside the system.

How have we integrated AI into OWIS?

Nihad Salkić, OWIS CEO, spoke about the way we have connected AI functionalities with OWIS and the processes already taking place within the system.

We do not see the value of AI only in its ability to generate text, answer questions, or process documents. Its real benefit comes when it has access to the right context and is connected to the workflow.

OWIS already knows which process a document is going through, who is responsible for a particular step, where the case is currently located, and what should happen next. In this way, AI can be used as support for employees within the process, instead of as an additional tool that functions separately from the rest of the business.

At the meetup, we also discussed where this kind of approach can already help users, as well as the situations in which caution is needed, especially when it comes to data reliability, access rights, and confidential information.

What can users expect from the OWIS system in the future?

Adnan Kalauzović, Head of Customer Success, presented part of what the OWIS team is currently working on and the direction in which the system is continuing to develop.

He also spoke about the importance of choosing the right software for a specific business problem. Just as hiring a new person only makes sense when we know what role they will have in the team, the same applies to introducing new software.

The goal is not to digitalize every step simply because it is technically possible. First, we need to understand where the process slows down, where errors occur, which information is missing, and what takes up the most time for employees.

Only after that does it make sense to select or develop a solution that will truly solve that problem.

See you again soon

The conversation with users also helped us better understand which functionalities are currently most important to them, where they see room for improvement, and how AI can have a practical application within their organizations.

We will continue developing the UGO Meetup as a place for direct conversation between the OWIS team and users, the presentation of new functionalities, and discussion about specific business processes. Because, imagine this revolutionary idea: software is still best developed when you talk to the people who actually use it.
